A Warm, Modern Home Designed for Friends
There is absolutely a way to achieve a modern apartment that is also warm and comfortable. The young professional who purchased this in this new development wanted a place to come back from work and unwind. She entertains a lot, so an open concept plan was essential.
We started by creating a large 8-foot long custom kitchen island that would dramatically increase her counter and cabinet space ("...and still be big enough for a game of beer pong!") Furnishings were oversized to maximize comfort, and window treatments are light and breezy, to keep the easy feel of the space. A neutral color palette was used throughout all materials.
Two stone bathrooms with modern fixtures are both elegant and functional. The dual-level outdoor space allows for room to relax with a morning cup of coffee, and take the sun on the low-maintenance faux-lawn.
The office doubles as a guest room when friends and family are in town for a long weekend, and the primary bedroom is comfortable and elegant with a feature wall of cork wallpaper behind the headboard.
Everything is neat, elegant, comfortable, and allows for an easy flow for the owner and any guests during one of her brunch or dinner parties.
The neighborhood is one of the most vibrant in NYC, and the design updates will offer real return-on-investment for years to come!
